What is commercetools, and how can it help you?

The way we do ecommerce is changing. As new software solutions arise, many companies are looking to composable commerce which allows for more flexibility in the tech stack they integrate with their platform.

That means moving away from legacy ecommerce platforms like Shopify and Magento.

Commercetools is one business at the forefront of the composable movement, offering innovative solutions and benefits to ecommerce companies looking to do things differently.

Who are commercetools?

Founded in 2006, commercetools develops headless commerce solutions with API-first architecture.

One of their main products is a headless ecommerce platform, which empowers clients by giving them more flexibility when building their customer experience than legacy vendors.

For example, whilst platforms like Shopify are limited in the tech and software you can integrate with them, a headless alternative means you can pick from a wide range of solutions for greater customisation over your website

Commercetools are one of the strongest ambassadors of the MACH approach to ecommerce - meaning microservices based, API-first, cloud-native SaaS, and Headless.

MACH principles enable businesses to embrace innovation and respond to changes in the industry, something standard legacy ecommerce platforms struggle to provide.

Patchworks and commercetools

We've worked with a number of clients looking for a headless solution and integrations with commercetools.

One of those clients is Trinny London, who wanted their NetSuite ERP integrated with commercetools’ headless ecommerce platform.

With a commercetools and NetSuite integration, clients can automatically sync orders, fulfilments and inventory levels across their systems, eliminating the need for data entry.

But it’s not just NetSuite; the benefit of a commercetools integration is its flexibility as a headless platform. You have the freedom to choose best-of-breed software whether it’s an ERP, WMS, 3PL, or any other core business process.

If you’re looking for a reliable integration with commercetools, Patchworks has years of experience connecting clients of all sizes to their desired ecommerce platform.
